The Ban Bullying at work campaign is spearheaded by the Andrea Adams trust – the first charity in the UK dedicated to raising awareness of workplace bullying.
Last year’s Ban Bullying day was very successful, with over 300 organisations involved and an estimated 3 million of the UK’s workforce taking part in events on the day. The website was accessed by an estimated 3 million people up to and including November 7th. All campaign promotional items were completely sold out and several thousand co-branded posters were sold across Europe.
A very successful PR campaign saw us on BBC News, GMTV, Sky News, the ‘Today’ programme, 23 regional BBC radio shows and a wide range of newspapers and magazine articles which all helped get the campaign the attention it deserved.
As the UK’s leading authority on workplace bullying, the Andrea Adams Trust is committed not just to helping individuals and organisations deal with the problem, but to extending our understanding of the nature and scale of workplace bullying through extensive partnership working. In 2007, we focused on “Speaking Out” asking the question “Isn’t it time you spoke out against bullying?”
We inspired people all across the UK to think about their own behaviours and to understand the impact it could have on others, whilst encouraging both individuals and organisations to have the courage to stand up and “Speak Out” against this insidious behaviour.
"Amnesty International UK aspires to be an innovative and responsible employer, and is very proud to be a key partner and supporter of the National Ban Bullying at Work Day campaign this year. We believe this to be a key issue for all employers, and have been working very closely with The Andrea Adams Trust to ensure we will have the most up to date and effective policies and procedures to tackle bullying, harassment and discrimination. This year we introduced a new bullying and harassment policy, and are in the process of implementing training for every single staff member as well as developing an internal network of specialist harassment advisers to help ensure that all our employees and volunteers are treated with the highest levels of dignity and respect.
The Ban Bullying at Work Day campaign needs as many individuals and organisations as possible to get involved and raise awareness of this issue so we hope that our involvement will help achieve this."
"Royal Mail employs 170,000 people in the UK. The size of the business means that addressing the matter of bullying and harassment was never going to be easy, but with senior level support and a real commitment to change, the business has seen significant progress in the last few years.
We are delighted to be one of the key partners of the successful national Ban Bullying at Work Day campaign. Spearheaded by the Andrea Adams Trust this is an important campaign that gives all of us an opportunity to spread the message across Britain's entire workforce that bullying in the workplace should not be tolerated.
At Royal Mail we have set about bringing our words to life through a range of tangible actions."

This year the Ban Bullying at Work Day campaign will be the biggest of its kind in the world. Its success relies on people getting involved so showing that bullying and harassment is a matter for the majority as opposed to something that concerns just a few.
